Peter did it too, you know.
Right there in a raging storm
in the middle of the night,
couldn't see half a meter through the dark
but for the stabs of lightning
searching for him through the slashing rain
and raging wind.
Tose boys were terrified -
can you blame them? -
Peter looks out past the gunwales
and sees a light...a figure in it...
recognized that it was Jesus out there
on the water WALKING toward them!
Ol' Peter stood right up and stepped
across the gunwale, started walking
on the water toward Jesus
until the lightning split the dark
and thunder crashed around him,
stopped him cold, took his attention
and left him wallowing in the water
crying out, "Jesus save me!"
And Jesus did - reached out
and took the hand of Peter,
declaring "Oh ye of little faith."
They walked together to the boat
and climbed in. Poor Peter,
never doubting Jesus,
walked or wallowed,
depending where his focus was.
