| So you want to know something about the ol' Mindworm. | ||||||||||||
| Well, what's to say? From the Wordwork page (if you've read much of it), you can tell that this ol' mindworm is a married dude. It's not rocket science to gather he's a geezer and Vietnam vet, an arrogant ol' coot with a run-away mouth, who likes to tell stories (= lies) and drink beer. |

| OK, you say you already knew that. You're not stupid, and you did read the site. Does the Mindworm have a name? Most who've visited the site already know the answer is yes. Anyone else would be stupid not to assume that a person's name underlies the Mindworm. Of course I have heard of corporate entities with a moniker like George or Bill or Sally or something when there actually was no one at the place so named, but a simple fiction that allowed all sorts of excuses and someone to scapegoat for all the corporate failures and screw ups. So said, I will confess that the Mindworm is but one person: me, Pete Freas. Next question: Who's Pete Freas? |

| He's the Mindworm. Conceived Bill, changed to Henry Edward under pressure from grandparents, became Pete in the Hospital (in Cleveland, Ohio, a VERY long time ago) because Mom didn't want to call me Hank or Ed. So, now I am the corporate Mindworm, the legal Henry E, and in body mind and soul just Pete. Gemini. Rural childhood, graduated from a high school small enough that one such as I could play varsity athletics. Attended Kent State University, graduated from Ohio Northern Unviersity ('65) with a BA degree in English and in History. Graduated Navy Reserve Officer Candidate School, Newport, R I, ('64); commissioned Ensigh USNR and served the next 26 years in the Navy. Changed from USNR to USN during flight training after a two and a half year tour of duty aboard USS Coates (DE 685), a WWII vet Naval Reserve training ship. NAS Pensacola flight training - designated Navy pilot (12/68). You can tell from reading the site, I flew helicopter gunships in Vietnam. Hoo ahhhh. After Vietnam, spent two years at Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. Married Ann in Virginia (70). Graduated ('72) with a BS degree in Operations Research/Systems Analysis (a consollation prize, as most of my classmates earned MS degrees - but then I was a poet in a high-tech curriculum. Go figure.) Ann and I adopted boy/girl twin babies ('79) in San Diego. Attended Defense Language Institute in Monterey much later and learned German for my two and a half year "twilight' tour of duty at the German Staff College in Hamburg, from which I retired. Earned a MA degree in Communication from University of Oklahoma ('89) extension programs at DC and Ramstein AFB in Germany. Between 1970 and 1990, I completed six marathon races, including Honalulu, NYC, and Hamburg. |
