| These stoic rocks lean silent 'gainst the sun, disdain the water's arrogance. A boastful travelor, water has been everywhere claiming dominance. The rocks stand by their proud techtonic heritage defining more than continents. Water's nonsense is incessant drivel, feigns signifigance, pretends invincibility, divinity. These silent rocks unburdened of the need to mystify, relate no legends' myths. simple thermal condensate dew silver decks grass and leaf before the morning light. Daybreak pushes back the dark, reveals damp footprints, scaled notes of rabbit's song n shadows of the garden fence. On the mantle a clay jar with my father's ashes waits for mine as soon as I finish writing this poem. |
