Turning 35 Again
Somehow, the second time around don't seem like mine.
There was a time I could split the posts at 60 yards,
but now the most that I can kick is made of 'Nerf.'
It used to be I'd grab my board and hit the surf;
nowadays at the water's edge the onlyh thing I do is fishin'
suckin' beer and standin' in the water wishin'
I could really run again instead of finding fitness fun
]in runnin' with my lips and tongue and mouth!
My energy and my ambition done bailed on me and headed south;
but I can sleep in every day, although it's sad for me to say,
I cannot stay out late so much as once I could, partying and such,
'cause every time the sun goes down,
it drags my sorry eyelids out of town!
The first time, 35 was kinda cool,
this second time it is OK to play the fool
since no one cares and lets you go - except your kids you know
will always e embarrassed by anything you do.
But that is OK too - the only one you gotta please is you;
now that you're old enough - its' no big deal -
go ahead and act on what you feel.
We all grew up too fast. So don't do that again;
set your inner child free, 'cause if not now, then when?
Listen to the music in the rees...see the magic in a cloud...
kick a stone, click your heels, tilt back your head and sing out loud.
I'm not disapointed 'cause I can't go out and climb a mountain
(that's something in my head).  I'll tell you, I'm not countin'
on hangin' round beyond my time - ain't no one done it yet.
